eBay ROYAL BAYREUTH JACK AND THE BEANSTALK NURSERY RHYME PORCELAIN PORTRAIT PITCHER This is a beautiful piece of early 20th century porcelain in the form of a creamer or cream pitcher. It is decorated with a very charming “Nursery Rhyme” decoration featuring “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The “Nursery Rhyme” decoration is a transfer. It was made by Royal Bayreuth at their Tettau factory in the Bavaria region of modern day Germany. The piece is also hand painted (the background scenery) and hand decorated with gold trim around the rim and on the handle. This piece has been part of my personal collection since 1997. Please be sure to read the “AGE AND CONDITION” paragraphs below. The shape of this piece is pictured, with a different decoration, in the book Royal Bayreuth: A Collector’s Guide by Mary J. McCaslin as photos # 115 & # 123 on page 40. I did not see this exact decoration pictured in this book. This piece is clearly signed with a blue Royal Bayreuth mark on the bottom. This same mark is pictured as the “# 9 Mark” on page 22 if this book. It is a very nice example and beautiful as you can see from the photos! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. Age and Condition This piece dates to circa 1910. It is in excellent original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The piece rings like a bell when I tap it on the rim or the handle. I see no wear to the gold trim, I would call the gold mint – see the photos. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. Approximate Dimensions About 3.375” (8.6 cm) left to right (across the handle) by about 2.875” (7.3 cm) in diameter and sits about 4” (10.2 cm) off the table at the tallest point. Approximate Weight About 3.625 ounces (102 grams). SALES TAX I am required to charge 6.5% Ohio State Sales Tax on all purchases shipped to an address within the State of Ohio.
