~ ACTUAL ALLA PROOF & TRALLE HYDROMETER TO MEASURE % ALCOHOL ~ Here’s a fine quality MADE IN FRANCE AllA brand glass Proof & Tralle 12″ hydrometer to accurately measure the percentage of alcohol in your distilled homebrew. This is used for distilled spirits and is NOT for Beer and Wine (See my other items, you need the Triple Scale for your mash or sugar wash!). Comes in a square plastic case with instructions. FREE 0-DAY SHIPPING via First Class Mail. You’ll have it right away! The rum and plastic test jar are props to show you how it works and are not included! This scale will determine the direct percentage of alcohol in liquids with a specific gravity less than zero. Just put a sample of unsweetened liquid containing alcohol in a test jar (dollar store bud vase, mason jar, or see my other items) and float the hydrometer in the liquid. The hydrometer is blown glass and fragile so be careful not to let it bounce off the bottom or sides. Spin the hydrometer gently to release any bubbles that are sticking to it. At eye level read the number off the scale where the hydrometer emerges from the liquid. Be sure to read across the two bottom corners of the frown ( not at the meniscus (top of the curve). The rum and plastic test jar are props to show you how the instrument is used. You get the hydrometer, case, and instructions shown below: The scale is about 12″ long and 1/2″ across the fat end. It is weighted with metal shot. You do not get any of the props in the photos, just the hydrometer, accordion case, and directions shown below: This scale goes all the way up to 200 proof, or 100% alcohol. We should be so lucky!~ THIS AUCTION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE RUM OR BEAKER! In the image shown above I am measuring some Puerto Rican Rum with a stated alcohol content of 80 proof, or 40% alcohol. You can clearly see cohesion and the curvation of the meniscus where the liquid clings a bit to the hydrometer and curves up from the flat level of the liquid. You would take your reading across the level of the liquid, NOT the highest point the liquid reaches.
