A handsome set of antique Hubley bookends of a hunter and his dog. Listed in Kuritzky and De Costa’s Collector’s Encyclopedia of Bookends (2006) on p. 319 (plate 2257); This monochrome set is dated to about 1925, has a rarity value of 5 (Rare), and is valued at $175. Both bookends are marked 423 at the bottom of the back side. MATERIAL: Cast iron with brass plating; a magnet sticks. CONDITION: The bookends are in nice condition, with just a little rubbing at the bottoms of the back sides at the bases. No rust. The brass plating is age-darkened but in nice condition. The felts on the bottoms are probably replacements. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT: Each bookend is approximately 6.25″ tall, 5″ wide, and 2.5″ deep at the base. The bookends as a set weigh 6 pounds, 5.6 ounces. The photographs are part of the description. Please examine them carefully, using the magnifier. SHIPPING: The bookends will be shipped bubble-wrapped in a USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box, the cost of which is $18.40. Buyer will pay for shipping. Please note that eBay collects state sales tax. I will accept returns only if I have described the bookends significantly incorrectly, but not otherwise, because of the shipping cost I would incur with a return.
