eBay Antique Solid Silver Trinket Box Antique Solid Silver Trinket Box Click image to enlarge Description This beautiful box is made from high gauge solid silver. It is serpentine shaped and the lid (which I believe is cast) is decorated with a figural scene amid flora and scrolls. The lid sits on the rim so it doesn’t have a secure closure. The sides are decorated with wrythen fluting with vacant cartouches to the front and back. **Please see the condition report below regarding some repairs to this piece**. The base is stamped with 2 Hanau silver marks which are possibly those of Friedrich Reusswig who was in production during the first quarter of the 20th century. Having personally tested this piece, I will fully guarantee that it is made from silver of around 900 grade (90% purity). This box is in good, usable condition with no visible dents. The decorative detail to the lid is visible but there is some wear to the detail caused through over a hundred years of polishing – especially to the figures. As you can see from the photos, there are some small repairs. There was clearly a small crack to the back corner of the lid which has been soldered and there appears to be some soldering to one of the fluted channels at the back. Because of their location, the repairs aren’t highly visible and are reflected in the asking price. Please be aware that, after all these years, there will be some fine surface abrasions caused through handling.
