No exceptions! Sorry!Here for your consideration is an exceptional Triplett 3444 Mutual Conductance Tube Tester.Many claim this is the best tube tester ever built.Better than the Hickok’s.This 19” x 16” x 9” tester is Serial # 5248 and was made in 1959 to 1964.It sold for $349.50 in 1963.This tester was originally used in the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Labs and is in the “Laboratory Hard Shell” case instead of the usual “Service Technician Case”.It is in excellent working condition and still has the original key to lock the case! The only small negative I could find is that one of the case latches is no longer spring loaded to open (but still works fine).My Tech friend Tom replaced all 5 capacitors and tested the unit. It correlates well to my two TV-7s and comes with the original instruction manual.From the NET: The 3444 was one of the best tube testers made. Introduced in 1959, it competed directly with the Hickok 539 series of tube testers. The main attribute of the 3444 is the fact that it has a maximum plate voltage of +250 volts while most other tube testers, including the Hickoks, only have a maximum plate voltage of around +125 volts. This higher voltage gives a more accurate measurement for tubes being tested because the tester’s electrical conditions closely simulates a true working environment for the tube to be tested in. Also, this higher plate voltage is more reliable in identifying faulty gaseous tubes. Another great feature is the 5 kHz internal oscillator which is used to inject a signal to the grid of a tube being tested. This feature offers a more realistic input signal condition than that of the Hickok 539 series which only offer a 60 Hz input signal.
