I am selling an OMAS 1996 UNICEF Signs for Children Fendi Sisters yellow 18kt solid gold fountain pen, which was styled on the original unique piece designed by the Fendi Sisters and auctioned by Christie’s in Rome, Italy on 14 October 1996. One of 30 numbered pieces, this is no. 24/30. The series was dedicated to the UNICEF 50th Anniversary Signs for Children initiative with a part of the auction proceeds donated to UNICEF by OMAS. Made as part of a series of pens reflecting the original designs of 24 famous people. The group of famous people included the Fendi sisters, Miss Lollobrigida, Dr Christian Barnard, Gianfranco Ferre, and Julio Iglesias. The Fendi design features the famous “inverted F” Fendi logo, with a deep blue underlay of resin overlain by solid yellow 18kt gold filigree. A very beautiful and elegant result. The pen is in pristine condition. All trim is yellow gold. 18kt gold Medium nib. Piston filler, operated by the blind cap knob at the bottom end of the barrel. Cap closure is simple screw-on system. Length closed is around 14.8cm, length open is around 13.3cm, width at widest point on cap (excluding the clip) is 1.6cm, and weight empty is around 42 grams.
