eBay ****PRIVATE ESTATE COLLECTION**** 1998 Fender® Stratocaster Eric Clapton European Tour Rarely Seen Commemorative FSR Promotional Guitar (Collector’s Condition) Condition Report: This guitar is in immaculate condition and 100% stock with very little signs of playing or even being out of the case. Maybe a few pick swipes on the pickguard and a couple of hairline clear coat blemishes which ALWAYS appear on gloss black if you tilt it in bright light, and WE ARE EXTREMELY PICKY! The very limited number of these available make this a one-of-a-kind guitar for any Clapton enthusiast or collector. These were presented backstage in both USA and MIM versions along with a small amp according to Lee Dickson (Eric’s guitar tech) in the Lot Essay of the auction listing. A USA model of this exact guitar sold in July 2004 at Christie’s (lot #1392) for $16,000 in the Crossroads Guitar Collection along with many of the extras as seen on this one. That guitar is estimated to command anywhere between $100k – $300k in 2024 if it were ever to be offered again. A true “under the bed” find on this one that will not likely appear again. Every night the sponsors had a backstage party, for the staff of VW, in various towns and one of these customised Fenders would be present with a little amp… Nathan or someone would always be noodling on one of these. At the end of the tour, this previously unused one, was presented to Eric.
