For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Early 2000s Pelikan M800 Maki-e Limited Edition (3 of 20) Fountain Pen artwork done by Koushu Nishihara. This pen has never seen ink and is in Mint condition. This Pelikan M800 Maki-e Fountain Pen is one of a limited edition of 20 issued by Allen Gross/Pens Plus. It displays a striped Maki-e made up of gold, copper, and silver stripes. The artwork on this pen is by Koushu Nishihara, one of Sailor’s Maki-e specialists. Nishihara helped create several Maki-e editions for Pens Plus back in the early 2000s, including Sailors, Stipulas, and Pelikan. It is signed on the bottom of the turning knob and numbered 3/20. The 18k nib is designated a medium. The fountain pen has never been inked and considered new old stock. The actual Pelikan Fountain Pen is a Souverän M800 type fountain pen. The large 2-tone nib is made of 18C gold and designated a “MEDIUM”. The fountain pen is equipped with a differential brass piston-filling mechanism that works smoothly. The smooth operating piston mechanism allows you to fill this pen with bottled ink, and the transparent green portion of the barrel allows you to see your ink level. There are absolutely no nicks, chips, cracks, or repairs to this fountain pen. The cap banding is stamped with, “PELIKAN SOUVERAN GERMANY”. The cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The top of the shows the “One Chick” cap logo. This Pelikan M800 measures 5 5/8″ inches in length capped and 6 1/2″ inches posted. The NIB is an 18C – 750 Two-Tone with a Medium point. The actual fountain pen tipping measures .79mm when measured using a digital caliper. Due to the rarity of this fountain pen, I wanted to keep it uninked for the next collector. I would consider this Pelikan M800 Maki-e Fountain pen to be in Mint Condition. This is a very rare Pelikan that would make for the high-cachet anchor in your rare Pelikan writing arsenal collection. Only 20 were ever made, this is your chance to own a piece of Pens Plus/Allen Gross/Koushu Nishihara history! Please review all my images as they are part of the description.
