eBay K WAYNE THORNLEY Original Mixed Media Arwork “Trigomatrix I” c1980s Signed and Framed This is an extraordinary original artwork by South Carolina Artist K Wayne Thornley and is titled “Trigomatrix I”. It is made of 3 layers of of painted paper and the top layer with the 20 triangle cutouts is stitched onto the layers beneath with brown cord or heavy thread. The triangles, and the paper they’re cut from are edged in gold which really gleams when the light catches it. There is more depth to the colors than I was able to capture in the photos. It is framed under clear glass so there is some glare in some of the photos. I tried to show as much detail as possible. There are lots of beautiful details in this piece. Including the frame the it measures approximately: 29.25″ wide x 25.5″ high It was purchased from a gallery in Columbia, SC in the 1980s. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. Wayne Thornley is a South Carolina artist working in painting, collage, and mixed media. His award-winning work has been shown in many juried and solo exhibitions throughout the Southeastern U.S. and purchased for private and corporate collections including Wells Fargo and The Greenwood Genetics Center in Greenwood, S.C. Thornley’s work combines the impressions as a young boy growing up in the Deep South, a unique eye for interpreting the beauty and the uncertainties of the world, and his love of exploring the creative process. “Creativity. Exploring the creative process. Experimenting with tools and techniques. Making messes and making discoveries. Capturing beauty. Creating a story. Stirring an emotion or evoking a memory. These things are at the core of my being. I believe we all are born with this ability and desire to create. It is a primal thing. Taking the time and making the investment to tap those gifts is what allows you to expand the vocabulary of your creative voice and to become an artist,” says Thornley. Thornley’s creative work also includes assemblage and wire sculpture. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he studied art, design and marketing.
