Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique older Turner S95D model dynamic microphone from the 1950’s that comes with a period Astatic E6G model desk stand that compliments the mic nicely in which to display. Pic # 2 shows this microphone and it’s basic characteristics from an old Turner advertisement I have. This was a smaller, affordable “general purpose mic” meant to be used for paging and dispatch situations where a reliable mic was needed but not so expensive like some of the cardioid mics being sold at that time. Microphones in the 1950’s were extremely expensive. This S95D was easy on the pocket book and a good choice for basic uses. The mic itself is 8 inches long but very light weight. It should be noted that this mic has a non-working original element and so it should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only. The 95 series came in two different styles over the years with the only cosmetic changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 95 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 95 D’s carried the better sounding dynamic element but again, this one is in non-working condition. This “S” model had the on / off switch making it a bit more expensive that the regular model. It would make a good repair piece as well if you have a good working dynamic element from a rougher looking Turner 95 mic. As seen in the pictures provided this mic has a satin chrome finish and it’s in pretty decent shape despite showing small spots of pitting here and there. No dents, fractures or missing pieces. 100% complete with nothing loose or rattling. Joint mechanism is firm and works excellent. The threading for a stand and cable is perfect. This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE… The stand is a period 1940’s / 50’s Astatic E6G model desk stand and perfect for this vintage microphone. It provides a very stable lite weight platform. There is typical lite wear on the painted wood riser as well as the painted aluminum base. There are small scuff marks and scratches. No dents or however. The base still has it’s original rubber pad on the bottom and it’s in great condition. As you can see the wood riser screws into the mic as usual but the riser also detaches from the base with a half twist allowing the user to walk around with the mic. The handle is very practical in this way. The handle is held into the base via tension when you twist it back on. The base has an on / off switch which is currently wired but non-working. There is a 2 1/2 foot cable as well with the chunky chrome plated male 1/4 inch end connector. Total height with the mic on top is appx 14 inches and the base is 5 inches wide. This would make an excellent display piece in the home, office or studio. And as with all my items… I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not…I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that’s fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition…period.
